Today I'm Grateful For...

I'm grateful for the this beautiful blue-skyed spring day. I'm grateful that I have the opportunity to go to school and be trained in a profession that I'm passionate about. I'm grateful that you parents are trusting me with the education of your children! I'm grateful that I have the freedom to choose my path in life. I'm grateful for all the people who have fought over the years, in many different ways, so that this wonderful country could stand strong and free. I'm grateful that I can vote. I'm grateful for my awesome roommates and friends, for my ward, stake institute, and my FHE group. I'm grateful for my family, who I love more than anything in the world. I'm grateful that I get to be with them forever! I'm grateful that I can call up my siblings whenever I have a question about life or just need someone to talk to. I'm grateful that dad and mom finally made it to Hawaii. I'm grateful for sleep, and that the lack of it is making me more grateful! I'm grateful for cool music that I'm listening to right now. I'm grateful for my job and that the government has this nifty thing called a subsidized loan. I'm grateful that I have an apartment to live in, food in my pantry, clothes in my closet, and a bed in my room. I'm grateful for my Savior and all He has done for me. I'm grateful for the restored gospel on the earth and scriptures that teach me of Him. And at this particular moment I am especially grateful that He helped me make it through another day!

Alphabet Cousins!

This was a project for my instructional technology class. There is sound to it, but it's pretty quiet, so you have to turn it up all the way.

Oh Friday...

What a day! Most people look forward to Friday, I try not to dread it. Here's how it goes. I go to my Educational Psychology class at 8 in the morning. Not that 8 is that bad, but it's just the beginning. After a thrilling 3 hours full of Behaviorist and cognition theories I go down the stairs one floor for Planning and Management, where I remain for an additional 3 hours.This class is usually rather boring, which is good, since exciting topics of conversation in that class involve students throwing chairs at their teachers. That's just scary. By this time it's 2 in the afternoon, and I can sit back, relax, and transcribe various video and audio files for 3 hours (are you beginning to see a pattern?). And then, joy of joys, I go home! Unless I go to the library, of course. From there on out Friday is the fun weekend day that everyone raves about.

Ice?! As in penguins, and eskimos, and ICE!

A couple of weeks ago I read Shipwreck at the Bottom of the World by Jennifer Armstrong for my children's lit class. It was so cool! I'm usually not a big fan of informational books, but this is one I highly recommend. It's about an expedition to Antarctica that began in 1914. The ship got caught in the ice and the men had to survive the frozen wilderness for two years! Miraculously every member of the crew survived. The story of their survival is incredible, but I learned about a lot of other stuff too. Ice, for instance. I used to think there was only one kind of ice in this world. I was wrong...

There's brash ice, pancake ice, bullet ice, green ice, frazil, nilas, breccia, shuga, slush ice, rotten ice, pressure ice, grease ice, ice dust, shorefast ice, ice flowers, ice haycocks, ice saddles, floes, calf bergs, growlers, and sastrugi, to name just a few." - pg 48
