Engaged Life

Well, I'm finally finishing a post I started ages ago. Here's a little history of our engaged life.

These were some pictures we took the day we became "officially" engaged.

We loved going to BYU football games together.

In case you haven't seen this side of Jake yet...
Our good friends Bryce and Anna! They got married about a month before us.
Halloween!

We wrapped it up with a little "It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown" provided by you tube.

Being engaged was super fun, but boy are we glad it's over! Being married is the best! Wedding pictures coming soon :)

The Song of the Righteous

I just had a really neat experience. After reading my scriptures earlier today the song O My Father popped into my head and I was frustrated to discover that I couldn't remember all of the words. My solution was to get out my computer and look them up online. Since my roommates all moved out yesturday I was alone in my apartment, and knew that I would be for the rest of the day. So when I found the hymn online I found myself singing it out loud. When I finished a line from another hymn came into my mind, but I couldn't remember what song it was, I could only think of that line. I started searching through all of the hymns looking for a title that would trigger my memory, and found myself wanting to sing other songs as well. In the end I sat on my bed for over an hour singing hymns out loud until I found the one I was looking for. It was really nice to be able to just sit down by myself, where no one else could hear me, and sing praises to God. To me singing this music feels like studying the gospel, bearing my testimony, and praying all at the same time. After all, the Lord Himself says that the song of the righteous is a prayer unto Him. I am so grateful for the hymns of the church! So if you ever find yourself all alone and looking for a spiritual pick me up, I recommend sitting down and singing.

Summer Days...

Well, I'm finally posting to catch everyone up on my fabulous summer! Here are some pictures of my adventures...
Let's start with Mother's Day! We had a picnic on the lawn above the temple.

Mason loved the seeing the missionaries

I love my family!

Some of us went up to Becky and Drew's for Memorial weekend. It was awesome! Saturday started out with a hearty bowl of oatmeal (of course) to get us ready for a day of rafting.

Cheryl entertains herself on road trips...

We drove over to the Snake River and rafted down the Lunch Counter

We didn't get any pictures of us rafting, but it was pretty intense. Cheryl flew off the raft at one point, but Drew saved her. Unfortunately we lost two paddles trying to get her back and had to row for all we were worth with the four we had left to catch up with them. It was awesome!

When we were done we went to the lunch counter to eat lunch (logically) and got some pictures of other rafters.

This guy was crazy! He was doing all of these amazing tricks through the rapids in his kayak.

Oh parents :)

Cheryl joked that she was going to climb up this wall...

Dylan actually did.

I hiked Squaw Peak with some friends. It was great!

I love to see the temple :)

Nathaniel brought a cucumber! It made me happy.

Shawn and Cody jamming

In between terms I went down to Goblin Valley with some friends

You can't see me very well in this picture...I'm sitting on top of Briaunna's hand...

Cave!

The next day we hiked through slot and bell canyon. It's beautiful down there!

I got to babysit Brent and Benson for a whole weekend!

Brent's really into safety. He found a helmet to wear while riding their motercycle.

Of course we had a party while I was there. Balloons, party hats, the works.
Larry Boy!!!!

And for a grand finale, I finally hiked my to the top of Mt. Loafer!
